 On 22nd November, LGBT DAF held a free workshop that  focused on the experience of young LGBT survivors of domestic abuse.

The event  took into account the new changes in the government’s definition of domestic abuse to include coercive control and lowering the age criteria to include  young people who aged sixteen and seventeen year.

New definition of domestic abuse to include 16 and 17 year olds

Today, the government announced that they had changed the definition  of domestic abuse, and for this to be introduced from 2013.

The new definition of domestic violence and abuse will be:

“Any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour,  violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.… Read the rest
